What is counselling?

A counselling room (even a virtual one) is a place where you can explore your issues, difficulties or problems, whatever they may be. Counselling can be helpful in finding ways out of painful states such as depression and anxiety by learning new approaches of understanding, thinking and being. Transforming stuck and unhelpful patterns of behaviour, coming to terms with a loss or bereavement and healing the traumas of our personal history. This can sometimes be very challenging yet can help us to grow, fulfill our potential and reach a personal understanding. Counselling is a unique experience where you will feel the freedom to speak about anything that is on your mind with an impartial person. Trust in the relationship is paramount in making change happen. With commitment from both client and counsellor I believe we can work through your issues together to achieve your desired outcome..

What is a client to a counsellor?

What is a counsellor to a client?

  • A counsellor is someone who will treat you with respect and empathy at all times.
  • A counsellor will create a safe, confidential and non-judgemental relationship with you.
  • A counsellor is someone who will listen without interruption, try to understand your thoughts, feelings and experiences without criticism.
  • A counsellor will work along side you to help you make sense of your issues or problems, gain new insights and come to your own decisions about a way forward.
  • A time when you can put your muddled thoughts in order. A time to help yourself improve a way of thinking, being, living. A time to truly heal old wounds or find a more helpful way of living with them.

It takes courage to embark on a process that can be difficult and challenging. However a positive experience of counselling can be helpful, uplifting and life changing.
