I am a qualified counsellor with a Diploma in integrative therapy and a BA (HONS) Degree, Professional Development in Counselling.
My background is in the voluntary sector. I currently practice counselling at two voluntary organisations in Sheffield.
I also work privately from an established counselling and therapy centre in Sheffield.
As an integrative counsellor I am able to use various techniques from different models of counselling. I believe that together we can establish the best ways of working for you.
Our first session together is a chance for us both to work out if we are comfortable and can work with each other. Research shows the key factor in effective counselling is the relationship between counsellor and client.
This is why the initial assessment appointment is so important. It is a chance for you to ask me any questions you may have and lay to rest any anxieties. I am aware that your first meeting with a counsellor can be a very nerve racking experience. I will always do my best to put you at ease and make you feel comfortable. Hopefully you'll very quickly realise that I am just another human being. I am not here to judge you, make you feel embarrassed, awkward or ashamed.
It is also my chance to find out a little about your background, the reason you are seeking therapy and any other information you believe to be relevant.
I am a mother of three growing children/teenagers. Consequently I understand and am very experienced in parenting issues.
